Softcover. Condition: Good. This 9.0 x 11.125 inch telephone directory is the 1934 directory for the California counties listed as stated on the front cover. This is the original directory by the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company. This directory has a stiff card-stock cover stapled through the 0.375 inch thickness and with a small manufactured hole in the top left corner for putting a string through. The covers show considerable crinkling and the edges and corners also show handling and use wear. The first page of thin light-brown paper shows a lengthy tear through half the page, but the full page is present. The light-brown coloration of the pages is probably a time discoloration of the paper. The rest of the text shows wear and some crinkling and minor tears, but overall the text is in very good condition and complete. The first page shows a complete listing of the towns subscribing to this directory and the following pages give instruction on how to use the telephone, inter-city calls, rates to some Pacific Coast points, and then the listings by communities in alphabetical order. The pages feature interspersed advertisements from business and locations throughout the directory area. The telephone listings give the name, address, and then the telephone number and that number seems to vary considerably from community to community - - such as 12-J-4 - - 409-W - - or 760. This is the authentic original directory and not a reprint.
