The Graeme Thorne kidnapping, carried after his parents won the Opera House Lottery, with a view to having them pay a ransom. The perpetrator murdered the 8 year old boy and was eventually convicted. The case is considered pioneering and the beginning of modern forensic investiagtion in Australia.
