Top corners of the spine are rubbed. Speckled boards are lightly sunned around the edges. There is a scratch 3/4s of the way own the spine. Corners are sharp, but have a s…mall bit of fraying on the bottom corners. The text block and pages are lightly toned. The clean end papers are toned as well. No owners' names, prices or book plates. The dedication page has creases in it from improper storage at some point. The DJ is soiled in parts and has a clipped, bottom corner on the front flap. Price is present and has small chips at the top of the spine, front panel (top/bottom) and the corners. In spite of these chips and tears approximately 98% of the DJ is present. There is some fraying and chipping at the edge of the front flap. This book has a glassine cover.

In 1944, eight of a B-24 Liberator bomber's 10-man crew were forced to bail out when their plane was damaged during a mission (the other two men had bailed immediately after the plane was hit, and were pre…sumed dead). The men landed in Montenegro, which was occupied by the Germans, but were rescued by Serbian Chetnik guerrillas who hid them for more than 10 months while trying to get them back to their base in Italy. Inks was the plane's navigator. 159 pages + brief author biography, map frontispiece. Moderately cocked/rolled, light edgewear, previous owner's name across top of first end paper. Size: 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Book.
