The interior is clean, solid and without markings of any kind. Previous owners initials in black to the bottom edge. Faint age toning… to page extremities. Small indent to the fore-edge between pps.195-200 from a paper clip. Bright, clean pictorial laminate boards (hardcover) have sharp, square corners. Unclipped dust jacket is lightly bumped to extremities, with light shelf wear to show. Rear flap has a 6cm crease from the bottom corner upward. Now protected in archival brodart jacket. Contains the two errors present in the earlier editions, highchair instead of high chair, line 1 page 8 and "1 wand" listed twice on page 53. Features the younger Dumbledore image to the rear wrap. The first edition plates were used well into the later printings of the Canadian editions. The wonderful adventure that introduces us to Harry, Wizarding and Hogwarts. Taylor, Thomas (illustrator).

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Good++ copy of the very scarce eighth UK Bloomsbury softcover printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Number line 10 9 8; Sunday Telegraph review quote on the front cover; copyright page credits Joanne Rowling with no space between Thomas Taylor and the year. This eigh…th paperback printing was issued just a few months after the first and is among the rarest early softcover printings. The exact print run is unknown but was likely significantly smaller than that of the first edition. It was also one of only two printings to feature the original Smarties Book Prize Award sticker applied to the cover, before the design became integrated into the cover from the tenth printing onwards. The laminate layer and the Smarties sticker are missing, leaving marks on the cover illustration, which also shows a few creases. The spine has a single reading crease but no fading. Inside, the book is in excellent condition, with tight binding, clean and bright pages, only light toning, and no inscriptions or names. Due to the cover imperfections, this very rare and highly collectible copy is attractively priced. Thomas Taylor (illustrator).

K Rowlings Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone in pictorial card covers with illustrations on the front, back and spine by Thomas Taylor, published by Blo…omsbury Publishing Ltd, London in 2001. The fine, unread book has pictorial covers with titles on the spine and cover in gold and white, with all the edges in white as well as white end papers. The tight, bright book has no marks, bumps or writings over its 223 pages. The price in sterling and ISBN number are part of the rear cover. The spine is not creased, so the book appears to be unread. The front and back cover both have a slight crease near the spine where both have been opened, causing creasing in the card board. There are three small creases on the bottom corner of the rear cover where it has been bent back causing creasing. As only 200 copies of hardback first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone are available to collectors, this paperback first edition, first printing has been become an item of value too. The reverse of the title page shows the full number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 indicating the first edition thus. Harry Potter is a publishing sensation with over 450 million books sold, an enormously successful movie series and is now spawning theme parks around the world. The celebrations surrounding the twentieth anniversary of Happy Potter and the Philosophers Stone on 26th June 2017 will have a positive impact on the value of this book.
