Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Victor Ambrus (illustrator). First U.S. edition. Terrific collection (what else would you expect from these two compilers?) of 36 entries - mainly short stories and excerpts, but with a few poems thrown in. There's an introduction by Eleanor, and each section, and each major contribution, has an introductory paragraph by one of the editors. The main contributors are: Kipling, T.H. White, Chesterton, Edward Thomas, Walter de la Mare, E. Nesbit, the editors themselves, and King David. (That last one is actually Psalm 24, attributed to King D.) Fabulous drawings by Victor Ambrus. First published in the U.K. as "The Hamish Hamilton Book of Kings" (1964). Nice cloth boards, slightly worn on lower corners and minimally softened at spine ends, but a near fine copy in very good, price-clipped dust jacket, browned, slightly edgeworn, and with a couple of closed tears to rear panel. A pretty hefty tome so additional shipping may be required.
