Hardback. Condition: Near Fine. First Thus. This near fine unmarked copy is bound in blue cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine, tight, white, bright and square. The unclipped dust wrapper has some edge wear and one or two closed tears so best described as very good plus condition, it has now been coverd in clear, removable, archival, protective film. International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. Where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased charges will be quoted. The author's first book on the narrow gauge lines of Mid-Wales appeared in 1952 and went rapidly out of print. Since then he has done a great deal of further research and in the case of four of the lines (Tal-y-Llyn, Welshpool and Llanfair, Rheidol and Fairbourne) there has been a great deal more history to record during the intervening years. This is therefore virtually a new book; all the 100 maps and drawings are new and most of the 150 photographs too. This book deals not only with facts - though there are plenty of them ascertained with the author's usual care - but also in its descriptive passeges brings home to the reader the fascination of these narrow lines that pass through the beautiful and often wild scenery of Mid-Wales Ref SS2.
