Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the history of the National Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis, an organization established in 1904. The mission of this organization, and the broader anti-tuberculosis movement, has been to curtail the social impact of tuberculosis within the United States. Tuberculosis was, at the time, one of the leading causes of death in the United States, due in part to the prevailing lack of knowledge of the disease's bacterial origins and means of transmission. This book details the efforts of this leading anti-tuberculosis organization, detailing the educational campaigns, research initiatives, public policy advocacy, and the development of treatment and care facilities for those suffering from this disease. The concluding chapter in the book exhorts readers to continue the work of the organization, such that the incidence of the disease might one day be reduced to zero. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
