Hardcover. 1st thus. AS NEW book, no DJ, as issued. 1st thus, 9"x8", 320pp. Reprint of the 1806 1st, with much added modern explanatory material. AS NEW book. FLAWLESS. All three text block edges a oerfect white, not the slightst stain. Spine ends perfectly flat, not a hint of rounding. Text without a hint of aging, foxing, marginalia, etc. Book stays tightly closed when stood on its spine. Bowler explains in his preface that his mother owned the true 1806 1st edition and had passed it on to him. It was his mother's copy Bowler used as the source for his Old Fort Niagara reprint. His, and his mother's, true first is now owned by a west coast rare book dealer who acknowledges the Bowler connection. At book's end is a 16 page glossary of the terms in Rundell's book. There are two keys to identifying the first. The frontis has an 1805 date while the facing title page is dated 1806, This book reproduces both pages. The internet archive does have a copy of the 1806 1st. Interestly their copy has an owner's date of 1805 at the top of the title page. AS NEW book, no DJ, as issued. 1st thus, 9"x8", 320pp.
