Item description from seller

Aljechin, Alexander (Alekhine): Meine besten Partien (1908 -1923) Mit einem Titelbild und zahlreichen Diagrammen. Berlin und Leipzig, 1929. Walter de Gruyter & Co. 1 plate IV. 239 p. with chess diagrams. First German edition. Bound in later full cloth. Ownership inscription on the title page. The volume contains 100 selected, meticulously annotated games from Alekhine's early career, spanning from the Saint Petersburg youth tournaments to his breakthrough into the international elite (e.g., Pistyan 1922, Hastings 1922, Karlsbad 1923). The book was published in 1929, two years after Alekhine defeated José Raúl Capablanca in Buenos Aires. Alexander Alekhine's Meine besten Partien (1908 -1923) is one of the most influential, genre-defining works in the history of chess literature, fundamentally revolutionizing the methodology of game analysis and chess instruction. Bobby Fischer, Anatoly Karpov, and Garry Kasparov all cited it as an essential study source; Kasparov directly traced his own style of game analysis back to this volume by Alekhine. Store description

The Abaúj Antique Bookshop which was founded in 1996 is one of the most significant representatives of the Hungarian second-hand book trade. The second-hand bookshop I lead organizes numerous book auctions year by year in Budapest. I make a catalogue out of the most unique themes every summer. My favourites are autographed books and manuscripts. Autographed books and manuscripts of internationally-recognised writers, poets, historical figures and celebrities can be found in my collection. You cannot even imagine how many rare books and manuscripts can be found in Central Europe! I have created the abaujantique.com website in order to make the world aware of us and get to know us. I would like to get to know your interests and add rare items to your collection. Kind Regards from a booklover, János Pogány…
