Matthew Sterling is drawn to the things people can pass by without noticing: a familiar symbol, a well-worn tool, or a small detail in an old story. Sometimes looking closer opens up a much larger story. That curiosity has shaped his life in Freemasonry and led him to write *The Beehive: The Quiet Emblem*, his first completed book and the fulfillment of a long-held wish to become an author.
A Master Mason of Purcell Lodge No. 27 in Oklahoma, Matthew enjoys studying the history and meaning of the Craft’s lesser-known symbols and sharing what he learns with other Masons. He serves as Oklahoma Local Secretary for the Quatuor Coronati Correspondence Circle and takes part in the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma’s service to veterans. In his writing, he offers readers a place to pause and think, leaving room for each person to reach their own understanding.
Matthew spent more than twenty-five years in the steel industry, beginning as a welder and fabricator. He now works as a Plant Supervisor for Farmer Brothers Coffee Company and lives in Purcell with his wife, Chenoa. He hopes his books will feel like a conversation with a fellow traveler: thoughtful, open, and worth carrying with you after the last page.
