A lifelong dog lover, Sylvia draws inspiration for her Riley series from her own beloved dog, whose personality and adventures sparked her imagination. Riley’s best friend happens to be the neighborhood cat—an unexpected connection for an author who admits she’s afraid of cats! But their friendship was too special to leave out, so Sylvia made room for Riley’s feline companion in her stories. Together, the pair gives Sylvia plenty of inspiration to explore friendship in its most surprising forms.

Sylvia is married to her best friend and biggest supporter, whose encouragement means so much as she pursues her love of writing. With a growing family and a dog who provides plenty of inspiration, she finds stories in the people and animals closest to her. Through her books, she hopes to share that warmth with young readers and the families who read alongside them.
