James Mack

James Mack writes stories that slip between genres: horror, dark fantasy, science fiction, mystery, and the strange country where they overlap. Raised on old stories and mythology, he is drawn to myth, folklore, and the systems that shape people, along with the people who break them. Before turning to the page, he spent two decades as an actor, stunt performer, and fight choreographer in film, TV, and theatre, which explains a fondness for a well-staged fight and a good exit line. Studies in anthropology, theatre, history, and philosophy mean their fiction is built on real history, real belief, and a deep suspicion of simple answers. His short stories appear in Beyond the Red Line (Inkd Press), Friends, Family, and Fatalities (And You Press), and Unseen Stories (Crypsis Press). They live in Los Angeles and are usually writing twelve books at once.
