Bunnie Claxton

Every doctoral candidate reaches a moment when finishing feels impossible. Dr. Bunnie Claxton has spent her career walking beside people in that moment. She has chaired more than 250 dissertations to successful defense, served on more than 400 additional dissertation committees, and helped thousands of scholars find their way to the finish line.

Dr. Claxton is the founder and CEO of Dissertation Research Specialist, where she develops doctoral programs and curriculum for universities across the country. A former Superintendent of Liberty University Online Academy, she holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and has served as a peer reviewer for the American Educational Research Association. She is the author of more than 30 books, including widely used step-by-step guides to literature reviews and applied research.

Her newest book, In This Together: Devotions for Doctoral Candidates and Their Professors, grew from a vision she carried for six years. It brings together more than 100 scholars, candidates, and professors to offer 200 devotions for the weary student and the faithful mentor walking beside them. It is the book she wishes every doctoral candidate could hold on the hardest day of the journey.

She lives on the coast of North Carolina, where she continues to teach, write, and cheer on the next generation of scholars.
