Donna E. Martin

Donna Martin, has been a stress management consultant, addictions counselor, teacher, and psychotherapist. She has practised and taught yoga and meditation internationally for more than 50 years and has been a senior trainer of the Hakomi Method (created by Ron Kurtz) for more than 30 years. She has been a regular presenter at Hollyhock Learning Center in BC and Hui Ho’olana in Hawaii. She is now a writer, mentor, and consultant.

Psoma Yoga and Psoma Yoga Therapy are Donna’s original version of yoga and yoga therapy as an embodied approach to self-awareness and healing as remembering wholeness. These are modalities she has developed over a lifetime--an approach to body/mind/spirit healing which understands healing as the unfolding of wholeness.

Psoma is a path of discovery through understanding our automatic ways of being in the world and what other possibilities are available to us. It effortlessly combines the yoga sutras of Patanjali, pranayama, asana, mindfulness practices and the Hakomi Method (mindfulness based assisted self-discovery) to invite us to learn more about transforming limiting body patterns and habits. This approach offers participants a mindful and embodied way of working with old patterns in order to allow for creative choice-making and the possibility of more positive life experiences.

“Many practitioners use mindfulness and body awareness to support people in waking up to their engrained habits which have become the source of unnecessary suffering. Donna does not just work with the body, she is able to gently work from the inside out, from the source of deep embodiment, to call forward a person’s wholeness, their full aliveness, and this is the essential gift and grace she offers us in Psoma Yoga.” (Flint Sparks, Psychotherapist, Hakomi Trainer, Zen Priest)
