J. Raúl Bernal balances writing with his job selling cars at a BMW dealership in Valladolid, and with his

family.

He is the author of the novels La huella del primer fuego (The Mark of the First Fire) and No

olvides a Lucía (Don't Forget Lucía), and of two books on ultrarunning: Ultratrail: dominando la

naturaleza (Ultratrail: Mastering Nature) and UTMB and Beyond, the latter written entirely in English

and a category bestseller in the United States.

Las Señoras de los Lunes is his first series. It grew out of an administrative question — what happens

to a village when it has fewer inhabitants than it needs to keep its public services — and out of the

conviction that in the Spain that is emptying out, nothing is settled at gunpoint: it is settled at a

service window.

He publishes independently and retains the audiovisual adaptation rights to all three titles in full.
