Paul Roebuck is a psychotherapist, author and researcher. For twenty years he has worked on why people behave the way they do - the last ten of them in the therapy room.
At the end of 2022 he began paying that same attention to what happens when a person works with an AI, and has not stopped since. Mind the Gap came out of it: a book about the distance between how an AI behaves and how a human behaves, and what that distance costs when nobody notices. The Pebble That Talks Back followed, on what is really going on inside your AI - and you.
Paul's life's work is in the field of grief and loss and in 2017 he was treated for cancer of the tongue. The Grief Trilogy comes from both sides of that bed: The Last Gap for the grieving, Use What Remains for the one it is happening to, and The Second Row for the people who keep coming.
He writes, speaks and advises on AI behaviour and the human judgement it cannot replace, and still sees clients. He lives in Warwickshire, England.
