Walayee C. Ishway, known as Lay, is an author, poet, journaler, creative, and beauty professional whose work is rooted in words, reflection, creativity, and real life.

She first became a published author in 2012 with Pay Attention, a deeply personal poetry collection shaped by love, loss, survival, family, faith, and the need to give difficult emotions somewhere to go.

Today, that same instinct lives at the heart of Slayed Beyond Beautiful, where Lay creates journals, workbooks, poetry, art, crochet, and other forms of expression for women who have spent so much time carrying life that they quietly wonder, “Where am I in all of this?”

She believes not every feeling needs to be fixed or explained. Sometimes expression comes before understanding. Sometimes one honest sentence is enough.

She also created Booked Isn’t Enough: a 90 day journal, helping beauty professionals build beyond appointments.
