David Goodwin

David Goodwin is a teacher, trust-wide Teaching and Learning Lead, speaker and author.

He works across primary and secondary schools, supporting teachers and leaders to improve classroom practice through evidence-informed professional development, curriculum thinking and a strong focus on how we know whether pupils are actually learning.

David continues to teach alongside his trust-wide role and regularly speaks at education events on teaching, learning and checking for understanding.

His latest book, What Are They Thinking?, explores checking for understanding as one of the most important parts of effective teaching — helping teachers uncover what pupils know, identify misconceptions and make better decisions about what to do next.

His work is grounded in a simple aim: helping teachers teach well and pupils learn more.
