John Longmire

John Longmire is the author of The Adventures of Ringo the Raccoon, a seven-book Christian children’s series inspired by the true adventures of a rescued baby raccoon who became part of his family.

Years ago, John and his sons, James and Daniel, found an injured baby raccoon in the woods near their Mississippi home. They cared for him, named him Ringo, and soon discovered that life with a curious young raccoon could be full of surprises.

Those family memories eventually became The Adventures of Ringo the Raccoon. Through Ringo’s real-life adventures, John combines humor, faith, and lessons about love, kindness, courage, trust, and respect for God’s creation.

John is a retired U.S. Air Force veteran who later enjoyed a second career in the insurance business. Today, he serves as pastor of Hamilton Friendship Church in rural Mississippi, where his faith and love of storytelling continue to shape the way he shares lessons about life, family, and God’s creation. John and his wife, Julie, make their home in Mississippi.

John believes some of life’s best lessons can come from the most unexpected places—even from a mischievous little raccoon.
