Debra-Anne Thompson

Debra-Anne Thompson is a children’s author originally from Cape Town, South Africa, and now based in the UK. Her stories are inspired by real-life experiences, family, love, courage and the special connections that remain strong even when people are far apart.

Her debut series, The Golden Magical Ribbon, grew from her own experience of being separated from her children by thousands of miles. Through the adventures of Rex and Lily, Debra-Anne gently explores separation, change, belonging, bravery, hope and the reassurance that love can travel any distance.

She writes with the hope of helping children feel safe, loved and wonderfully brave, while giving parents, grandparents, carers and teachers stories that can open up meaningful conversations.

Debra-Anne is also creating activity books and resources inspired by her stories, giving children opportunities to explore their feelings through creativity, play and imagination.
