James Edward Cook

J. Edward Cook is author of the poetry collection Ordinary Spirit Radio (Station Hill, 2026), and the virtual chapbook Night Factory (Dispatches Editions, 2019) as well as over a dozen unpublished manuscripts of poetry and prose, including Strange Attractor, Some Hearts North, Catbird Talking Backward, This Is The Film Forever, School of the Empty Branch, Night In The World, You and Other Mysteries, Dime Western, Because We Are Alive We Resemble Watchmen, and The Recording Angel, a book-length essay on the poetry of Jack Kerouac.

Currently he's at work on a cycle of 108 linked but discrete "books" titled Origins and Systems of Dreaming, alongside The Elevens, an open-ended series of workings in his own idiosyncratic 11-line poetic form.

His work is included in the anthology Poetics for the More-Than-Human-World : An Anthology of Poetry & Commentary (Dispatches Editions, 2020).

He is co-founder of the guerrilla poetics collective Feed The Whale (which advocates for a return to the handmade against the virtual, the construction of Dada Centers instead of Data Centers, and the resurrection of the Surrealist Research Bureau...)

His work has appeared in various print and online journals, including Blazing Stadium, Dispatches from the Poetry Wars, The Adirondack Review, Seneca Review, Milk, BlazeVOX, Realpoetik, Scissors and Spackle, The Cobalt Review, and Jacket2 via Jerome Rothenberg's Poems and Poetics blog.

He lives in upstate NY where he works in a factory.
