Sally Lee

Sally Lee has dedicated more than 28 years to the care sector, building a career centred on supporting vulnerable people and advocating for compassionate, person-centred care. She spent 20 years managing care homes before moving into domiciliary care, where she spent a further eight years managing home care companies. Her experience has given her a unique insight into the challenges faced by service users, families, carers and care professionals.

Born in 1969 in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Sally grew up moving frequently because of her father's career before her family eventually settled in Norfolk. Those early experiences taught her the importance of adaptability, resilience and strong family connections.

Sally is a devoted mother of three children and a proud grandmother. Alongside raising her family and building her career, she studied for six years to complete her degree, demonstrating the determination and perseverance that have remained central throughout her life.

Throughout her career, Sally has been passionate about ensuring that people receiving care are treated with dignity, respect and understanding. She has achieved good CQC ratings in both care home and home care settings and has consistently championed the needs of vulnerable people and the carers who support them.

A Journey Through Home Care is Sally's second memoir, following Confessions of a Care Home. Through her writing, she shares the triumphs, challenges, emotional moments and unforgettable experiences that have shaped her life in care, while hoping to encourage greater understanding, empathy and appreciation for those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
