Fallon R. E. Evers

Fallon R. E. Evers writes fiction about systems, the people who live inside them, and the things we stop noticing once they become normal.

Their work is interested in power, work, technology, economics, institutions, and the strange arrangements humans build and then learn to call ordinary. Rather than imagining futures entirely unlike our own, Evers tends to begin with something already here: a rule, an incentive, a compromise, a reasonable idea. Then they follow it a little farther.

Evers is the author of Yield, a speculative novel about labor, ownership, and what happens when an economy becomes increasingly capable of functioning without the people whose participation once sustained it.

Their work also includes Hawk & Crow, the illustrated series Mostly About Birds. Technically., which uses two observant birds, dry humor, and very small questions to examine the systems hiding in everyday life.

Across forms, Evers returns to the same impulse: look closely at what everyone else has gotten used to.

Because sometimes the strangest thing about a system isn’t that it exists.

It’s that eventually, it stops looking strange.
