Chad Davis

Chad Davis is not a relationship therapist, a psychologist, or a credentialed anything. He wants that established early, because it is the entire point.

What he has instead is several decades of paying attention, a talent for asking women questions they did not expect and men questions they would rather avoid, and one conclusion he keeps landing on no matter how hard he tries to argue his way out of it: men are not complicated. We have just done a spectacular job of appearing to be.

About fifteen years ago, a woman who ran a support group for widows invited him to sit on a panel where women could ask a few men anything they wanted. No filter. No agenda. The panel never happened, but he spent a lot of time thinking about what he would have said. When she finally asked, he told her the truth: men need three things. Beers, Burgers and Booty. Take away two of them and something is seriously broken.

She laughed. Then she got quiet. Then she said, "You should write that down."

Beers, Burgers and Booty is what happened when he did. It is a field guide to the adult male, written for the woman who has watched a grown man sulk for three days without producing one usable sentence about why. Beers is the outlet. Burgers is the belly. Booty is the part nobody says out loud at brunch. Remove one and he runs a little dim. Remove two and there is a real problem. Remove all three and you did not need a book for this part.

Chad lives in Florida, where he is losing a long-running argument with his golf game. He considers this research.

This is his first book. He remains, by design, not an expert.
