Araceli Segarra Roca

Araceli Segarra is a mountaineer, writer and illustrator. In 1996, she became the first Spanish woman to reach the summit of Everest, during the historic expedition featured in the IMAX documentary Everest. Since then, she has combined mountain expeditions and projects with writing, illustration and public speaking.

She has also built an extensive career in media and communications, appearing in National Geographic documentaries and working in television, radio and advertising.

She is the author of books for adults, including "Not that High and Not that Difficult" and "Expedition to the glass ceiling", and the creator of the illustrated children's series "Tina's Journeys". Through Tina, a curious and adventurous young girl, she explores themes that matter to children: fear, friendship, teamwork, equality, challenges and self-confidence.

These same themes, approached from different perspectives, run throughout her work and her own life journey.
