His curiosity ranges from ancient civilisations and mathematics to music, religion, scientific anomalies and the organisations and institutions that have influenced society throughout history. Rather than searching for a particular explanation, Sharp is interested in exploring different possibilities — and in asking what might happen if an accepted version of events turned out to be only part of the story.

These questions provide the starting point for his fiction, where documented history meets imagination and scientific possibility.

His debut thriller, The Four Voice Cipher, brings together mathematics, music, ancient history and mystery in a journey from Turin and Rome to Prague and the Egyptian desert.
