Nidal Majdalani

Nidal Majdalani is a Lebanese travel writer, photographer, hiker, tourism expert, and Lonely Planet’s Destination Editor for Lebanon. A lifelong avid traveler, she combines extensive firsthand exploration with research, photography, and a professional background spanning tourism, business, and finance.

Since 2010, she has documented Lebanon in depth, exploring its landscapes, villages, heritage, nature, trails, architecture, food traditions, and communities, often going beyond established visitor routes to bring lesser-known places and stories into view. As Lonely Planet’s Destination Editor for Lebanon, she contributed the Lebanon content to the latest edition of Lonely Planet Middle East.

Through her Travelling Lebanon initiative, her work carries a broader purpose: encouraging domestic tourism through deeper exploration of the country, supporting rural communities and local economies, highlighting overlooked heritage and natural landscapes, and promoting more responsible and sustainable tourism.

Her destination knowledge and tourism expertise have led to international professional recognition and invitations, including participation in the Union for the Mediterranean’s tourism conference in Greece.

Her travels extend far beyond Lebanon. For more than six years, she has explored the United Kingdom extensively, with a particular focus on England’s coastline, heritage towns, historic cities, walking landscapes, natural wonders, architecture, local culture, and lesser-known places. Her wider travels span Europe, the Middle East, and other destinations.

Nidal holds an MBA from the American University of Beirut and brings more than two decades of experience in finance and higher education to her work, alongside more than 100 published features in prominent outlets including Annahar and Lebanon Traveler.
