Y. K. Peter Chan

Y. K. Peter Chan is an educator, storyteller, and lifelong student of the Book of Mormon. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager in Hong Kong, where he later served as a full-time missionary. His love for the Book of Mormon and its witness of Jesus Christ has shaped his faith ever since.

Peter has spent much of his life teaching and mentoring young people. He served as a professor at Brigham Young University–Hawaii, where he was named Teacher of the Year, and currently teaches instructional psychology and technology at Brigham Young University. He has also served twice as a bishop, experiences that deepened his desire to help youth and young adults discover the power of faith, repentance, covenant, and discipleship.

He wrote The Chronicles of Alma to help readers experience the people of the Book of Mormon not simply as names on a page, but as real people who faced difficult choices, struggled to follow God, and were changed by Jesus Christ.

His greatest hope is that this story will lead readers back to the Book of Mormon—to read it more deeply, love it more fully, and strengthen their faith in the Savior.
