About the Author

Kenneth Preston is a Washington State–based project manager, traveler, storyteller, amateur chef, and whiskey enthusiast. His life brings together practical problem-solving and a lasting curiosity about people, places, and the turns a story can take. When he isn’t working or writing, he enjoys cooking, camping, exploring the Pacific Northwest, traveling for work, and spending time with friends—preferably over a good meal and without any urgent need to assemble a tent in the rain.

Travel—whether for work or to explore the Northwest—offers Kenneth fresh scenery and new perspectives, while time around the table and around a campsite offers plenty of chances to share stories. He appreciates the ordinary moments that become memorable: a plan that goes sideways, an unexpected conversation, a new place, or a decision that makes more sense as a funny story told afterward. That eye for life’s small surprises carries into his writing.

In Dating at Fifty: A Survivor’s Guide to Modern Romance, Kenneth recounts the funny, candid experience of re-entering modern dating after becoming single at fifty. Dating apps, first dates, road trips, red flags, questionable decisions, and unexpected friendships all become part of the journey. The book approaches romance with honesty and humor, while making room for the vulnerability and hope that come with starting over.

In The Adventures of Mia and Jake, Kenneth turns to another kind of adventure, inviting readers into a story centered on Mia and Jake. Together, his books show his interest in fresh starts, human connection, and the unexpected paths people find themselves on. His warm, conversational approach is rooted in a simple idea: awkward or difficult moments can become the stories we’re glad we lived through—and can laugh about later.

Whether he’s writing about romance, adventure, or the unpredictable detours in between, Kenneth hopes readers will stay open to new experiences, enjoy the people they meet along the way, and avoid taking themselves—or romance—too seriously.

Some names and identifying details in Kenneth’s books may be changed to protect people’s privacy. The experiences—and the lessons, laughs, and occasional “what was I thinking?” moments—are his own.
