Mala Rai created Chiku’s Adventures after four years of trying to get her children to speak and practice Hindi, with very little success.
Her kids couldn’t read yet, but they could recite their favorite books almost word for word. They remembered the funny parts, anticipated what came next and shouted the phrases they loved.
So Mala wondered: what if Hindi became one of those things they couldn’t stop repeating?
She began weaving Hindi words and phrases into funny, high-energy stories built around action, rhythm and repetition.
And it worked.
Soon her children were shouting “Chalo, jaldi, chalo!”, asking “Khaana kahan hai?” and announcing “Baarish ruk gayi!” long after the books had closed.
As a mother of three, Mala created Chiku with one simple goal: make Hindi part of the fun.
