Sayed Mohammad Bilal Hossain

Sayed Mohammad Bilal Hossain is a spiritual, philosophical, and literary writer whose work explores the landscapes of the human heart and timeless questions beneath human existence. His intellectual and literary foundation is rooted in the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, while his thought engages with the wider intellectual and spiritual heritage of Islam, as well as philosophy, literature, psychology, history, science, civilization, and questions of the modern age. The name Mohammad Bilal Hossain was given to him at birth at the time of his ‘Aqiqah, inspired by Bilal ibn Rabah (رضي الله عنه), the distinguished Companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the first mu’azzin of the Muslim community. His literary interests include love and loss, faith and doubt, desire and self-discipline, consciousness and identity, relationships, mortality, loneliness, technology, civilization, and the meaning of existence. His outlook is informed by the legacy of Hasan al-Basri, Imam al-Ghazali, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, and Jalaluddin Rumi.
