Lisa Amarant

Lisa Amarant is a dedicated wife and mother of two who resides in Central California. She has built a successful career helping others navigate life’s challenges and improve their mental well-being.

While pursuing her Master of Social Work degree, Lisa began her career in community mental health, serving disadvantaged and underserved populations, primarily individuals experiencing homelessness or living with low incomes. Many of her clients struggled with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. Although she worked with adults of all ages, her greatest passion was supporting transitional-age youth (TAY), ages 18–25. Drawing from her own life experiences, she was able to connect with young adults in meaningful ways, helping them develop the skills needed to manage their mental health and navigate daily life challenges, often with limited support systems.

Using a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy—Lisa helped clients transform unhealthy thought patterns, strengthen self-esteem and self-worth, improve relationships, and reduce symptoms that interfered with their daily functioning.

After twelve years in community mental health, Lisa sought a new challenge and transitioned into working with foster youth. In this role, she assisted in the development of mental health services within group homes, now known as Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTPs). While the work was meaningful and successful, she eventually realized it was not providing the fulfillment she desired. After careful reflection on her professional goals and personal passions, she decided to establish her own private practice.

Today, Lisa contracts with telehealth providers, allowing her to serve clients throughout California rather than limiting her services to a single local community. She values the opportunity to support people from diverse backgrounds and finds great fulfillment in being part of their life journeys. Through her extensive clinical experience and personal understanding of familial mental illness and substance use, she offers a level of empathy and relatability that resonates deeply with many clients. She provides a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly discuss life’s challenges and develop practical strategies for achieving their goals. Although she would never have appreciated it during her adolescence, she now views her early life experiences as instrumental in shaping the person she has become. Despite significant obstacles, she defied the odds and created a life that is meaningful, fulfilling, and impactful—both personally and professionally.
