Muhammad Shahzad Aslam

Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Aslam is an Assistant Professor at the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiamen University Malaysia, and an Adjunct Assistant Researcher at the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, School of Medicine, Xiamen University, China. His academic and research career spans pharmaceutical sciences, traditional and integrative medicine, natural-product research, global health, research methodology, and emerging applications of artificial intelligence in health and education.

Dr. Aslam holds a Ph.D. from Universiti Malaysia Perlis, completed under the Malaysian International Scholarship, an M.Phil. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Bahauddin Zakariya University, and a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from Baqai Medical University. His multidisciplinary training has enabled him to work across pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, biopharmaceutics, traditional medicine, public health, and evidence-based medical research.

He has authored and co-authored more than 130 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has an h-index of 26. His research interests include metabolomics, mass-spectrometric fragmentation analysis, phytochemistry, pharmacognosy, polyherbal formulations, wound healing, green extraction technologies and solvents, Chinese medicine, complementary and alternative medicine, global health, social medicine, cybermedicine, and the application of artificial intelligence and computational approaches to biomedical research.

A major component of Dr. Aslam’s academic contribution is his involvement in scholarly peer review. He has been recognized as a top peer reviewer, including distinction among the top 1% of peer reviewers in Clinical Medicine and Cross-Disciplinary/Cross-Field research. His extensive reviewing activities reflect his longstanding engagement with research quality, methodological rigor, scientific integrity, and evidence-based publishing across multiple disciplines.

His current research increasingly focuses on the development of scalable evidence-generation and knowledge-synthesis approaches. These include clinical-trial evidence mapping, searchable biomedical evidence platforms, systematic and meta-analytic methodology, secondary-data research, global disease-burden studies, bibliometric science, and computational approaches for resolving inconsistencies across overlapping systematic reviews. He is particularly interested in developing research models that combine clinical evidence, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and traditional medicine.

Dr. Aslam is also actively involved in academic publishing and book development. His scholarly books and editorial projects cover areas such as sustainable pharmaceutical product development, natural-product drug discovery, fermented foods, green extraction technologies, pharmacology education, bibliometric and peer-review methodology, artificial intelligence in education, global antiviral drug development, and interdisciplinary applications of natural sciences in integrative medicine.

Alongside research, he teaches subjects including Pathology, Pharmacology, Research Project, and Critical Thinking, with an emphasis on connecting fundamental scientific knowledge to clinical reasoning, research methodology, and real-world healthcare problems. His broader academic goal is to integrate pharmaceutical sciences, traditional medicine, modern evidence synthesis, computational methods, and responsible artificial intelligence to generate research that is scientifically rigorous, clinically relevant, and globally applicable.
