HA Hutson

HA Hutson grew up in the backwoods of Southwest Virginia, on the roads and in the hollows of a place that was never entirely quiet and never entirely safe. That darkness is not something she writes around. It is what she writes from.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, and a minor in Photography, from Hollins University.

She has been writing since she was old enough to hold a pencil and has never left Appalachia. She lives in a log home more than two hundred years old, surrounded by her library, her cats, and her work.

She doesn't write villains. She writes consequences. She makes you fall in love with the monsters before she shows you what they are and by then it is already too late.

Her work includes Watcher on the Mountain, Lanier's Run, Autumn Chills, Strange Relations, Haunting Vengeance, The Price of Faith: Blood And Consequence and The Price of Greed: The Wendigo, The Price of Survival: The Pukwudgies, The Sleeping Trees - due out in October 2026
