John W. Hudson is a retired law-enforcement officer with 26 years of public-service experience and a master’s degree in criminal justice. During his career, he worked in a program serving at-risk youth, where he saw firsthand the importance of providing children with encouragement, positive guidance, and strong role models.
Drawing upon those experiences, John created the Colin Finds series to help young children develop courage, honesty, kindness, patience, and good citizenship through gentle, entertaining stories. Featuring Colin, his little sister Chloe, and their cousin Weston, each adventure presents a relatable childhood challenge and a meaningful lesson children can easily understand and remember.
John believes some of life’s most important lessons begin with a simple story shared between a child and a caring adult. His children’s books are ideal for bedtime reading, family storytime, classrooms, homeschool lessons, and meaningful conversations between children and the adults who guide them.
John is also the author of Climbing My Family Tree, a book inspired by his interest in family history, personal stories, and the connections that bind generations together. Although it explores a different subject, the book reflects the same belief found throughout John’s writing: the lessons, experiences, and values of the past are worth preserving and sharing with future generations.
Through his writing, John hopes to preserve important stories, strengthen family connections, and encourage children to grow into kind, confident, and responsible citizens—one story at a time.
John is currently working on a book about his 2023 adventure hiking the Camino de Santiago. His remarkable journey carried him approximately 550 miles across Spain to the Atlantic Ocean, providing unforgettable experiences, personal challenges, and meaningful encounters that he looks forward to sharing with readers.
