Amber Baker

Amber Baker is the author of West Virginia Roots: Where the Mountains Remember—The Life and Legacy of Naomi Lee Nutter Henson. Inspired by her grandmother’s life and the generations who came before her, Amber combines family memories, historical research, photographs, and original records to preserve stories that might otherwise be lost.

Her work reflects a deep love for West Virginia, Appalachian heritage, and the people and places that continue to connect families across generations. Through Whispers of History, Amber honors the belief that family history is more than names and dates—it is an emotional inheritance filled with love, hardship, resilience, and belonging.

West Virginia Roots began as a search for family history and became a promise: to remember, to listen, and to carry the story forward.
