Randall D Wixen

Randall D. Wixen has been in the music business for nearly fifty years. He is the founder of Wixen Music Publishing, Inc., an alternative channel for publishing administration, copyright management, and royalty compliance review. The company’s roster consists of thousands of clients comprising the very top songwriters and recording artists from all genres of music. Since its founding in 1978, Wixen has represented the catalogs of legacy artists such as The Doors and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, in addition to venerable contemporary acts including The Black Keys, Missy Elliott, and Sturgill Simpson.

Born in Los Angeles in 1959 in a building that is now the Church of Scientology headquarters, Wixen moved with his family a few weeks later when his father was inducted into the U.S. Army/ They lived on a NATO base in La Rochelle, France, for some time. Upon returning to the United States, he attended public schools in Los Angeles and earned a BA in economics from UCLA (where he served as music editor for the Daily Bruin), while retaining an almost atavistic attraction to a European lifestyle. He founded Wixen Music Publishing, Inc. in Los Angeles and Wixen Music UK Ltd. in London.

After nearly fifty years of defending and protecting songwriters, he aimed to work less and play more. Over the course of forty-two years of marriage, he and his wife Sharon have explored fifty countries. They have two adult sons and currently split their time between Riga, Latvia (an ideal base for further European and Asian exploration), and a home in California’s Santa Monica Mountains between Malibu and Calabasas.
