Luma & Lantern Publishing makes books for the last hour of the day — the quiet one, with the lamp still on.

The imprint began with a simple conviction: a child's first library should be beautiful. To that end, Luma & Lantern pairs beloved verse from the public domain with new full-color illustration, built spread by spread for young readers and for the grown-ups reading over their shoulders. The Lantern-Light Classics return poems by Edward Lear,

Eugene Field, Robert Louis Stevenson, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and Sabine Baring-Gould to print as glowing picture books, each one paced to be read aloud in a single sitting. A companion series, The Sunlit Garden, does the same for poems about meadows, summer light, and the turning of the seasons.

Alongside the classics, Luma & Lantern publishes original stories — among them Kodi the Kangaroo, a twelve-book journey around the real world in which one small kangaroo

visits a real place, makes a real friend, gets something wonderfully wrong, and comes home a little bigger on the inside.

Every title is made to be handled and re-read: generous art, uncluttered pages, and words that sound as good on the tongue as they look on the page. Whether a poem is a century old or a story is brand new, the aim never changes.
