Frederick Cohen was born in New York City in 1956 and graduated from NYU's film department in 1978. He spent his career lighting feature films and network television before retiring in 2024. Mr. MacGillicutty's Detective Agency: The Case of the Missing Mittens began years earlier, when his two sons were small, and was set aside to attend to the things fathers attend to. He has been writing ever since he retired — mostly screenplays, until a very serious detective and a pair of missing mittens charmed their way into his heart. It is his first book, and a labor of love.
