Wayne Baruch

After graduate school and an MBA, Wayne Baruch landed in a business consulting and informatics track, with roles in technical writing, project management, business analysis, and training across sectors and industries. His passion for architecture, design, and training permeated his career for 50 years.

A downsizing returned Wayne to his original passion for design and construction. He built homes for one of the nation's largest homebuilders and later owned The Artisans Group, that specialized in historic restoration and repairing structural damage and included an expert witness practice. During that time, he earned credentials in building construction and remodeling and successfully passed the primary level program for building code officials in New Jersey. His expert witness reports were accepted into evidence by courts of law in five states. That expert witness work led to opportunities in construction safety, finally retiring as Safety Director for a major NJ commercial and industrial electrical contractor.

Historic restoration and structural repair has always delighted Wayne. On one hand, the condition or the building, machine, bridge, etc. is sad, but Nature doesn’t feel emotions. She doesn’t “understand” science, but will do what biology, physics, chemistry, hydrology, and all of the other sciences allow her to do. That’s absolutely intriguing!

In retirement, Wayne volunteers for SCORE as a mentor, workshop presenter, and subject matter expert. He also started Built World Photography, LLC, specializing in buildings, infrastructure, machines and technology, and abandonment photography.
