Jay Knight has spent nearly five decades in the residential real estate and
homebuilding industry. Since beginning as a laborer on a framing crew in 1978, he has worked in
nearly every facet of the business, including as a realtor, real estate broker, sales manager, and
land acquisition and development manager. Throughout his career, Jay has worked alongside his
father, uncle, and cousins in family-owned companies dedicated to building homes and
developing communities.
A longtime advocate for attainable homeownership and practical housing policy, Jay brings both
firsthand field experience and decades of industry leadership to the affordability debate that’s
explored in Zoned Out. His perspective is shaped not only by boardrooms and development
meetings, but also by years spent on jobsites, in sales centers, and in navigating the increasingly
complex regulatory environment surrounding the housing industry in America.
Jay is a Christian who, along with his wife Michelle, attends Newnan City Church in Newnan,
Georgia. Together they are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to nine
grandchildren. Jay and Michelle reside in Palmetto, Georgia,. with their beloved German
Shepherd, Blaze.
