Mr Matthew James Butterwick

Matthew Butterwick is an author from Leeds, UK, who has always loved reading and dreamed of creating his own stories.

Inspired by his neurodivergent younger brother, who can read but has never found reading enjoyable, Matthew began writing calm, accessible books that could appeal to neurodivergent and reluctant readers. Although accessibility is central to his work, his stories are written for everyone who enjoys clear, engaging adventures.

His available books include the New Mercury series and two children’s series, Dino Goal and Wildwood United. His children’s books are aimed at readers aged 6 to 14 and combine adventure, friendship, teamwork and humour with an easy-to-follow reading style.

Matthew’s forthcoming projects include Blackthorn, Intergalactic Classroom and Port Blossom. He is also developing The Lantern League, a ninja series for readers aged 9 to 14, and The Nightglass Cycle, a teenage ninja series planned in both short-novel and graphic-novel formats. His upcoming romantic-comedy series, Unfiltered, explores another side of his storytelling.

Matthew also writes mystery, crime, dystopian and techno-thriller fiction. Whatever the genre, his goal remains the same: to help more people discover stories they can enjoy and give every reader a reason to turn the next page.
