Dr Gaurav Gupta

Dr. Gaurav Gupta is a senior consultant paediatrician and vaccinologist based in Mohali, Punjab, in practice since 2002. He is a member of the Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Immunization Practices (ACVIP) of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, and runs Charak Clinics with his wife.

He came to writing about adult vaccines the embarrassing way. At 52, a routine health check revealed an adult vaccination record that was close to empty, this after two decades of telling parents not to skip doses. He has since found that persuading adults to vaccinate themselves is considerably harder than persuading them to vaccinate their children, and that the argument which finally works is rarely the one with the best data behind it.

He teaches vaccinology, evidence-based medicine and the sensible use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, and writes on health, technology and medical education. He is devoted to pickleball and his dog, his wife, and his daughter, though not necessarily in that order.
