Daniel Khan

The author is a German physician based in Berlin - a city that within living memory endured two totalitarian dictatorships, the Third Reich and, after it, the German Democratic Republic. That history is written into the streets he walks; it has shaped him deeply, and it runs beneath much of his writing on how ordinary institutions can be turned to pathological ends.
