Kate Fitzpatrick is an Australian children's author passionate about creating books that help every child feel seen, valued and celebrated.
Inspired by her own family's journey, Kate writes warm, engaging stories that reflect the many ways families are created and the love that connects them. Her books explore themes including LGBTQ+ families, inclusion, motherhood, co-parenting, donor conception, belonging and emotional wellbeing, giving children and the adults who love them opportunities to start meaningful conversations.
With a focus on kindness, humour, diversity and everyday family life, Kate's stories aim to reassure children that every family is unique and that love, respect and connection are what truly make a family.
When she's not writing, Kate enjoys spending time outdoors with her young son on Australia's Sunshine Coast, where many of her ideas are inspired by nature, adventure and the joy of childhood. Kate explains in her own humour, "I've now become a middle aged lesbian bird watcher, life goal complete".
Through her growing collection of children's books, Kate hopes to help families, educators and communities celebrate diversity, build understanding and create a world where every child can find themselves in the pages of a book.
