Mr Michael CL Cheung

Meet Michael Cheung and his beloved companion, Ninja, whose loyal and playful spirit inspired one of the much-loved characters in The Tiny Hero & The Giant Lion.

Michael Cheung is a British author, illustrator and designer based in Staffordshire, England, with more than 25 years of experience bringing stories and ideas to life through illustration and visual design.

The inspiration for Michael’s first children’s book came from an unexpected place. When he closed his bubble tea café, he was deeply moved by the children who became emotional and wished him well during his cancer treatment. He realised that, for some of them, the café had become more than somewhere to visit — it had become a safe haven and a big part of their lives. That experience inspired Michael to create something lasting for children.

Away from his creative work, Michael enjoys keeping active with HIIT workouts and also giving his brain a workout with a few favourite brain-training apps.
