Florence Koenderink

Florence Koenderink is a facilitator of breaking down and preventing trauma walls. She started the Beyond the Trauma Wall Initiative in 2025, and her latest book is a part of that initiative. Her background is in Cultural Anthropology, and almost 20 years of experience in child protection reform across four continents.

Florence has published 10 books providing information about specialised forms of childcare, the need for family-based care for all children, and what trauma is, how it develops and how we can recognise and support children and adults who carry unprocessed trauma.

The shift from child protection reform to breaking down trauma walls takes her accumulated expertise, research, and experiences a step deeper and broader. The goal is to address root causes, rather than staying focused on symptom and behaviour management, of both child protection concerns and the various threads of the current global polycrisis.
