M. Emmett Townsend

M. Emmett Townsend is a Field IT Engineer, author, and the founder of Lexington Road Press. He came to AI not as a theorist but as a practitioner — someone who spent years deploying and maintaining real technology systems across many locations, and watched firsthand how the right tools, used with judgment, change what is possible for ordinary people.

That conviction runs through his work. In Practical AI: Your Guide to Claude from Individual to Enterprise, he takes readers from their first conversation with an AI to genuine capability — trading hype for judgment: how to ask well, how to check what comes back, and how to stay in charge of the result. He built the Practical AI classroom line to put that same thinking in students’ hands.

He writes in plain language, with real practice on the page and a habit of questioning the tool rather than trusting it blindly. The technology will keep changing; the thinking is what he wants to teach. Lexington Road Press is based in Newton, Iowa.
