Steven Sparling

Steven Sparling has over 30 years’ experience in the creative sector as a practitioner and researcher. He holds a PhD in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship from Goldsmiths, University of London and is currently on faculty at City St George’s University of London and Trinity Laban Conservatoire. He has taught and held leadership positions at the Kingston School of Art (Kingston University), London College of Music (University of West London), Birkbeck University of London, Toronto Metropolitan University, Sheridan, and the University of British Columbia. Prior to academia, he was an actor and musical theatre performer with credits in London’s West End and off-West End theatres as well as tours and regional work across Canada and the UK. Born in Canada, he holds dual Canadian and British citizenship.
