He is the author of the Bart the Flark books: warm, gently silly bedtime tales for children aged 3 to 8. Bart was born on holiday in Sri Lanka in 2012, in the back of a jolting minibus between Galle and Kandy. The first chapters arrived somewhere between the potholes; the rest were written in a hotel garden through the long, humid afternoons. That was before either of Andrew's children came along. It took a daughter, a son, and a good many bedtimes for Bart to finally make it onto the page.
